June, I welcome you with love

After the rain. 

As a motorcyclist, rain is something that I avoid. Simply because it will trouble and endanger me so much due to the slippery road. Especially in Jakarta, you can find floods everywhere after a very short period of rain. Puddles of water at the least.

Then I remember one afternoon. I was at home when rain poured down. It was actually a very comfy time. Me, bed, books, hot tea and the cool weather. Perfect. Then I jumped off my bed and took a camera. It was still drizzling. Yet the ecstasy overwhelmed me. I went out under the drizzle and enjoyed the cold touch on my skin. And took some pictures of nature.

Then it caught my mind. For some people, rain could be something we avoid so much, but for others, it is a blessing that is long waited for. Yes, a blessing. Ahh… If you could see and feel the freshness rain could bring to the nature. The droplets of water on the leaves. The color that it brought back to our surroundings. Going out under the drizzle is one thing that you need to experience at least once in your life time.

I chuckled in irony knowing that this very fact also happened to our lives. How many times we face “rain” in our lives and fail to see it as blessing. Instead we avoid it. Sometimes if we cannot escape ourselves from it, we tend to curse it. How many times we cherish the freshness that we can enjoy after the rain without acknowledging the cold breeze a rain brings prior to it.

Now, as June is here. There will be less and less rain on the soil of Indonesia. But we never know when the dark clouds bring rain into our lives. But, as we know now, rain brings abundant blessings, beautiful colors and great fragrance into our lives. So, smile and welcome June with love.
