Sari Mendo

lamb satayOne of the best food that I tried when I visited Tegal was a lamb satay at Sari Mendo restaurant. At first, I thought it would just be like any other satay that I’ve tried before, but actually it was not. This one tasted very soft and tender with a small chunk of lamb fat between the meat that made the taste even more delicious. Especially when you mixed it with its codiment. It will be perfect for diner with family! Located at Jalan Teuku Umar Debong Tengah-Tirus, it was no more than 15 minutes away from our hotel. There were rows of tables that will ensure you to get a place there. We also ordered a clear lamb soup to help killing the freezing air and warm our tummy. I love it. My brother prefer coconut milk lamb soup. Maybe you want to try that one also. Which ever, do try to visit this place.

Seriously, Do not miss it!

Hotel Karlita International, Tegal

lobby

We stayed at a three star hotel, Karlita International when we visited Tegal.  Some say that this was the best hotel in this town. Well, Tegal was actually just a small town where people stopped by just to get a break from a long journey to a destination city.  So, we kinda feel that we must not risk our break by staying not in the best hotel in town. Apparently they just added a new wing building that slightly confused us. But the  lobby was spacious and well decorated. I love seeing a snowman here, on the land where snow does not exist.

Tahu Aci Tegal

leave a comment »

tofuIt was a cloudy day. And we were ready for a little adventure in Tegal. We were planning to visit the nearby seashore. My sister in law suggested us to buy some famous local snacks before we went to the beach. So, we decided to follow some suggestion from internet, Tahu Aci “Murni Putra” at Jalan Diponegoro, Tegal. They served a small type called Tahu Aci and a bigger one called Tahu Pletok. They were actually a tofu with some corn flour as its topping. Add some more seasoning and deep fried them, and they were ready be served. Usually they would serve it with some green chili. The taste was actually so-so. However, I could feel and smell the oil from the deep frying process. It was definately not a healthy snack. But I think, if you eat this with some chili sauce or you eat this with bakso soup, it would taste more delicious. Well, no harm in trying a bite. 🙂

…isn’t Christmas, till it happens in your heart.

Christmas

When the lights are off and the trees are gone,

When there’s no more gifts and no more feasts,

When the doors are closed and guests have left,

When the holiday is over and more bills to cover,

When there’s no more carols and the night came silent,

When the time starts ticking and the mind starts wandering,

When the hearts starts knowing and starts feeling,

That’s when you know that you just had a true Christmas in your heart.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas @church

with one comment

a songI celebrated Christmas this morning at my church. It was my first after being a regular attendee since  3 years ago. And this Christmas was just like what I had always expected in fact it was more than I was expecting. My favourite speaker was there. He did not go to Australia this holiday season, or maybe not yet. Some people whom I knew had moved abroad came to visit us this Christmas. Their presents really made the day merrier. Others were strangers for me. And that’s not bad. I imagined my Christmas last year when I spent with my Dad’s church back in my hometown, people at the church seemed to know me more than myself with their unnecessary comments. Yes, they seemed to fail to understand the term “mind your own bussiness”. Not that I was being rude, but they always found opportunities to bring my personal life in questions. Anyway….

There is something wrong with you, if you do not like spa. The idea of being massaged with fragrance oil, scrubbed with lotion, steamed, bathed are deliriously good, very good. So, I don’t want to mess this holiday season by not having one. Lucky me, I know a good place to go, Martha Tilaar Salon Day Spa.

Secret Recipe

leave a comment »

Gordon Ramsay’s secret of success is to put his mind in the mind of his customers. I guess this “Secret Recipe” restaurant fails to understand his secret hence fails to success.

imageI went there just last Thursday when I was doing my Christmas shopping. My friend and I decided to dine in at this restaurant at Senayan City. I ordered my usual, Noodle in Tom Yum Chicken and my friend ordered a new try, Vietnamese Noodle. We had to wait a while to get our food ready. My order came first and I was shocked that the bowl was dirty of spilled soup. I directly pointed to the waitress and she ignored me. And when I asked for wipes, she said they don’t provide wipes. I was so shocked that I could not say a word. And when I came to realize, I called her back to get me some tissue. She handed me some tissue but that did not change my mood, didn’t they?
