Cooking in Denmark: Potatoes and Vegetables
I can assure you that I can cook. Is that assuring enough for you? hahahhaa… But really I can!
Now, I am having trouble cooking because I am not familiar with the things here in Denmark. And as a microwave provided in my room, I am doing everything to maximize using it. Of course, a wonderful set of kitchen is available when my landlady and her family is not using it.
So, today, I bake potatoes with veggies. I am not vegetarian, but I do need to eat more vegetables since I came to live in Denmark because I dont want to get sick.
I prepared potatoes, broccoli and carrots, washed and chopped them. Sprinkled some pepper and salt. Put some chops of butter. And sliced bits of cheese. My fave, smoked cheese from witzerland!
I was hoping the cheese would melt. But hey, this is not any kind of cheese. But surely some tiny chops made the food smells bacon and cheese. hahahaha…. I like the taste. It’s not a foul. But, I should say, this dish has more european flavor than Indonesian.
So since I couldnt finish it. What’s wrong with me? well, I was late to go to church. that’s what’s wrong. I made some changes when I was reheating it for dinner. It did not look as beautiful as the first one maybe, but I like this one more.
So, I add some chili paste/sauce that bought in Netto. It tastes a little bit spicy and mostly salty. Then, I put on some slices of pickles, cucumber. They tastes great! Sour of course. I threw half of fresh tomato that I was eating on it. And I gave two spoonful of dried seasoned potatoes that I brought all the way from Jakarta.
As you can imagine, now it has become spicy, sour, crunchy, “more” salty, freshly sour and has so many texture, just in that one bowl. I am proud of my self. hahahaha… I might survive after all. 🙂
