All around Paris, France

with 2 comments

I will close my Paris, France series with this one, surroundings. I just feel like I have to address this. Especially for all my Indonesian, or Asian, friends out there. There are so many things that we heard. Well, from the point of view of a traveller i just ant to clarify certain things.

IMG_52371. Water is expensive in Paris

I want to tell you something. Drinking water is free in Paris. In most european countries, France is one of them, we can drink tap water. They are all good for drinking. Yes, the tap water in your bathroom. Don’t be surprised if your budget hotel did not provide you with complimentary bottled water. They are not stingy, they are basically normal. But if you prefer, mineral water, bottled and cold, then yes, you will need to pay 1.50 to 2.00 EUR a bottle, equals to 25.000 – 32.000 IDR or 10 times more expensive than a bottled water in Jakarta. So, bring a good water bottle and hop you go strolling Paris without having dehidration.

2. Toilet is expensive in Paris

Paid toilets are expensive in Paris, yes. But why do you have to go to the paid ones when you could find some free ones. We are adults, we know how much liquid and what kind of liquid we are taking and how they effect our bladder system. There are free toilets in Paris. Please… don’t be such a liar by telling people worldwide about this. But if you do urgently need to go to the toilet, then get your EUR ready. it’s 50 cents in parks and 1 EUR in malls or tourist attraction places.

3. Paris is so mainstream

Well, if you are in Paris. You are a mainstreamer person. πŸ™‚ I am not myself, I have to say this in advance, but I went there anyway. Mostly because I was accompanying my sister. But I would not mind to go there anyway, for the love of God, it is beautiful city!!!

But If you really “that” anti mainstream. Then go to some places that are not. I went strolling along side Seine River. Yes, it’s again mainly because my sister wants to see The Locked Love Bridge. But hey, if you walk on the side, you will see rented room and or restaurants from container boxes. I saw them on twitland. I never thought I would witness them by myself. Well, not entirely everything on twitland, but I saw some of them.

The point is, dont let yourself be define on your circumstance. Define your own. or borrowing Lacanian’s phrase, subjectify yourself. πŸ™‚
