Gudeg

My humble saturday special Indonesian breakfast.

Some of you might not know, what the heck is that on the plate. Well, it’s just rice with gudeg. As simple as that.

Gudeg is a traditional Javanese cuisine from Yogyakarta and Central Java, Indonesia. Gudeg is made from young unripe jack fruit boiled for several hours with palm sugar, and coconut milk. (Wikipedia)

Did I make this dish by myself. The answer to that question is… Of course, not! 😜

I am lucky enough to have a friend who brought a couple of canned gudeg for me when she visited Germany (and I met her there). I can recommend this canned gudeg as it is very delicious and taste perfectly like original one from Yogyakarta, home of delicious Javanese cuisine.

BTW, It’s Gudeg Kaleng Wijilan. I have tried its Sambel goreng krecek and Gudeg Mercon. I think the latter one is the best, it’s the most spicy one as mercon means fireworks. Nevertheless, I always give a pinch of salt and some more fresh chili with it when heat it on the pan. Also, it has some pieces of beef inside (if I am not wrong). So, sometimes I added small diced meat to it.

Anyone going to Copenhagen soon? Can I ask you to bring some more can for me? 😜

Otherwise… Enjoy your well-deserved weekend with your favourite food, favourite people, and favourite activities. xoxo.
