Ban Gaw

Being Asian in north european country, I take my visit to asian restaurant seriously. This is because, first, it’s super expensive. And second, it’s super expensive. So when I heard from my Indonesian friend that this Thai place called Ban Gaw is highly recommended, I find time to go there.

Ban Gaw

Halmtorvet 44, 1700 Kรธbenhavn, Denmark

I went there with a friend for lunch on a Saturday. Judging from its location, I decided to ring them in advance to book a place. ๐Ÿ“ž

The service was rather slow. I suspected it due to preparation time of the menu that we ordered. We ordered a deep fried fish and a morning glory dish. I gave the waiter a hard time to make sure that the fish we ordered was the fish that we had in mind. To my surprise, the fish dish came with a topping/sauce of two options, mango salad or red curry. I ordered the mango salad and that was the best decision in 2019 so far.๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

Tap water and rice are free. The rice came and the waiter served us the rice on our plates. ๐Ÿš Then the two dishes came. They were so delicious that we almost licked the plates. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Yuummm-mmy! The mango salad for me was the champion. It was sour, salty, crunchy (of the peanuts), spicy (๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ) and perfect to be eaten with the fried fish. ๐ŸŸ Most of all it is considered free! (It came with the fish). However, my friend loved the morning glory better. She said the taste was balanced, of the garlic, salt and soya. For me, it was too much of a stem than leaves. It was good, but I prefered more leaves of the morning glory than the stem. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ

All in all, it was a superb lunch. And since we shared the dishes it was only 165kr each (the total cost of the fish and morning glory was 330kr, I think). I call that a good asian restaurant! ๐Ÿ˜˜
