A walk in the park

Today, out of the ordinary was a sunny day. A beautiful sunny November Sunday in Copenhagen, Denmark. I went to the church and celebrated the Lord’s Supper with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Sometimes, knowing and having brothers and sisters in Christ is enough. I have so many things that I want. I have so many desires that I crave for. I have so many thoughts and worries for my future. But when I remember I have the Lord’s family, sometimes, it is just enough.

Happy Sunday, 19 Oct 2014!

Today was a very wet day from the time I woke up at 6AM all the way to the time I was back from church at 3PM. I had the sense that everytime I got excited going to church, rain poured down. It was a bit emotional morning for me too. Passing 7/11 at Hellerup St., Nordhavn, Nørrebro lake, and Grace Café was really a crush to my heart. As if I was crying with the sky.

I met the Pastor as soon as I arrived at the church. He knows me and he knows him. He greeted me by name and smiled. One of his lines in his sermon was when you lose a friend, remember that God has something greater in store for you. You are the heir of His promise. He keeps His promises. Amen.

Little things in life

To sum up my day today, I share with you my facebook status.

I am now about to call it a day, to prevent the cause of all trouble, waking up late. Still have this headache since afternoon when I had to dig up my bag, turn it over several times trying to find my parking ticket. I guess, a panadol will help me to get some rest. Indeed, small things in life can do more help than we could ever imagine.

If My People Pray

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14 –

I have been wondering on how my prayers can be heard, maybe you have been wondering too. And today, He says it bluntly to me through a song and Scripture reading. Literally I “only” need to humble myself, pray, seek His face and turn from wicked ways. It’s no time and place to ask again. I need to do it, then He will hear…

Happy Sunday people. Do as He told.

There is no darkness at all

Do you prefer to sleep with lights off or with lights on?

Well, for certain I am the later one. I don’t  like to be in the darkness. Especially darkness which I cannot control. Among those darkness are black out and eclipse. But the most terrifying darkness for me is the total and eternal darkness of  sin. That’s why, as a Christian, I am longing to be in The House of The Lord when there is no darkness at all.

Last Sunday was the first Sunday in the new year. I had an awful start of this year. So I came reluctantly and almost without hope. Almost. There I was, when  I thought nothing could cheer me up. His Words soaked in my mind, a short and simple sermon from 1 John 1-4.

Christmas @church

with one comment

a songI celebrated Christmas this morning at my church. It was my first after being a regular attendee since  3 years ago. And this Christmas was just like what I had always expected in fact it was more than I was expecting. My favourite speaker was there. He did not go to Australia this holiday season, or maybe not yet. Some people whom I knew had moved abroad came to visit us this Christmas. Their presents really made the day merrier. Others were strangers for me. And that’s not bad. I imagined my Christmas last year when I spent with my Dad’s church back in my hometown, people at the church seemed to know me more than myself with their unnecessary comments. Yes, they seemed to fail to understand the term “mind your own bussiness”. Not that I was being rude, but they always found opportunities to bring my personal life in questions. Anyway….

what coins inside an offering bag mean

I will never sacrifice things that don’t cost me.

Last two weeks, we had a guest speaker at our church. He is a singer and a song writer, Bob Kilpatrick. He gave somewhat different color on that Sunday service, a good color. He shared a true story that his friend experienced few months back. And the story went like this.

His friend is a worship pastor and he always pray to God prior to leading a worship in Sunday service, asking God to reveal songs that he need to sing for the service. One time, he sensed that God directed him to lead two songs, songs that he hated, Jesus Loves Me and In The Garden. For once, he did not follow. The coming week, he prayed the same prayer and he got the same answer. He was still unwilling to sing that two songs. Until the third time, he gave up and led his congregation to sing these songs. On the day, when he annouced the song that they were going to sing, right after he said the title, one man stood up and shouted “This is my song!” and he danced along the song. The same thing happened, right after the pastor mentioned the second song title. He screamed “this song is for me, thank you God”. No doubt that everyone there surprised and confused. But at the end of the service, one elder came approaching the pastor amd shared a story. Apparently, that man had phobia of getting out of his room. He had been staying inside his bedroom for 34 years until 2 years ago when someone came to help him to overcome his phobia, a psychiatrist. For the past 2 years he and his psychiatrist were planning for an outing and they had decided to visit the church. Because he never got out hence never attend any church service, they chose 2 songs that they can practice together to sing at the churhc. So, for the past 2 years, they had been practicing 2 songs so that that man felt familiar with church, Jesus Loves Me and In The Garden. It was then, their outing day. When that worship pastor gave up and obeyed God and sang that 2 songs. Indeed, those songs were his. And how amazed that pastor must have felt after listening this explanation. It was as if God said, welcome home my son, let’s sing your songs.
