Balekambang Beach at Lebaran Holiday 2010

Indonesia is a beautiful country you know. I am not saying it because I’m Indonesian, but really it is a beautiful country. Let me ask you questions:
1. Do you want to satisfy your soul by seeing beautiful mountain range view? Breath taking sunrise and beyond?
2. Or do you prefer a white sandy beach, public or private you name it, nude or open you say it. We have ’em all here.

Oh no? you prefer exotic animals? rain forest? mangrove woods? we still can provide you with all of them. we just unfortunate by lacking of good education for the people. So people tend to be selfish and greedy, two ethics that we should have been learning since born. Lacking this two habits make the nature spoiled. Will you come and see them all before they are all gone?

Last holiday, I had the opportunity to visit one of the sandy beaches in the southern coast of Java island. The locals call it Balekambang beach. I don’t know whether it has anything similar with Bali (Bale), but it has one tiny island where there’s a small temple, Pure, on it just like what Bali has in its Tanah Lot. Actually, there are some more island, but locals say that it’s a virgin island as in wild animals and snake still roam there. We need to leave them alone then.

It was on holiday season, so the beach practically filled with people, locals and tourists, kids to elders. They were all roaming together to play with the nature, something that they cannot see during normal days. The waves were splendid but kinda big for swimming. Life guards patrol every now and then making sure lil’ kids didn’t go too far to the sea. It is the southern sea of Hindi Ocean off to Australian coast, that’s what make the waves big and a bit dangerous for swimming.

It has a potential tourism attraction, i must say. Banana boat, jet ski or any other water sports will be happily accepted here, but I guess no investors are willing to put their money here since the government still neglecting the area. Locals sell cheap souvenirs and snacks. You can bargain here and get “kampoeng” food. Please don’t mind the grammar ๐Ÿ™‚ I must be honest, due to no adequate trash can, the beach will soon be dirty by litter. you should come early in the morning where the water, air and sand are still fresh and clean. you will fall in love with this beach in an instant.

LOVE myself!! :)

LOVE myself!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I took the liberty to be kid and play with the sand as well. It was excellent. We can make sand castle or bury ourselves in a warm sand. Relaxing seeing the magnificent view of an offshore sea. Here and there we can here children laughing around and even grown ups chuckling with their peers around the sea shore. We can see people lifting up their burden with the nature.

I won’t hesitate to visit the beach again. Umm..but, on second thought. There are still millions of beaches here. Island and beaches, corals and so many things to do with the shallow water around island in Indonesia. And just maybe next time I’ll better visit a different beach so I tell you a different story about it.

Enjoy!

Mt. Bromo at Lebaran Holiday 2010

with 3 comments

[Phewww… Holiday almost over now, it’s time to spend some little time to write.]

How are you all doing? Hope the 2-week break gives you a fresh mind as the work will start in no more than two days left. I had the opportunity to enjoy a splendid holiday if i may say. Most of my friends are well taken care ;p as in I manage to set some time for most of them. Let me recount, PAKJers (checked), KTB UKI (checked), KTB Sahabat (checked), Sec Sch friends (checked), SFers (checked), family (Lusi’s, Yos’, and Daniel’s, all checked)..yep that’s about all. so happy to have a very productive holiday ๐Ÿ˜€

I also went to Malang. It’s a small city in suburb of East Java, Indonesia. I went there to visit the famous mountain, Mount Bromo (and all the mountain range, Mt. Bromo, Mt. Batok and Mt. Semeru)

That was my first experience visiting the mountain. And a comeback for a mountain hike ๐Ÿ™‚

The temperature was so low. It was literally freezing for me. People spent lots of money and were willing to get up at 3AM to go up to see the sunrise. The sunrise itself was very magnificent. I was contemplating while waiting for the Sun to rise. It was so cold that we weren’t just waiting to see the beauty, but also the warmth that it brings.

I was then remembered CS. Lewis line: “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen-not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” Yes, it is indeed true. And in this very moment i grasped the truth within me, soaking the meaning in my head. Then we continued the journey to what so called “Padang Pasir Gunung Bromo”, we might say it as Mt. Bromo desert. The sand, some say will change its color depending on what season you went there. The color when I was there was dark gray. The local people there said that on summer time (which i don’t know when) the sand will turn into golden yellow, and when winds blow them up, it will make noise as if they whisper to your ear.

A very famous Indonesian artist took some film shoot here, and entitled the movie “Pasir Berbisik” or in English “Whispering Sand”. You can actually take a pony ride there, but i just couldn’t. By foot you can walk and climb some stairs to get to see the crater if Mt. Bromo. It was a very nice experience especially when you can see the whole mountain range surrounds you when you climb these stairs.

The view is marvelous but the smell is completely another thing. The sulfuric odor will suffocate you, especially after those “millions” stairs. I just took a picture of the crater and headed down to get some refreshments ๐Ÿ™‚ After a last glance of the great and unforgettable view, we headed home because the next day will be another journey, Balekambang beach. Beach is another story…playing with waves, sand and salty water has their own charm. just love the nature so much!! It made me want to go to Bali in an instance ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh well, enough for today, more story to come, hopefully with more spirit to write them all ๐Ÿ™‚ enjoy your holiday friends. It’s God giving gift for you all who had worked hard for Him.
