Blackball: cold Asian dessert
On my conquest exploring Asian dessert around my workplace before I leave, I came to the famous Blackball, Dessert House around PIK.
I must say, I do not have enough experience to develop sensitive taste buds to distinguish the differences of oh-so-many new Asian dessert house in Jakarta, specifically in PIK area.
But I must say, as a non-chinese Indonesian, I am thrilled to see that this one provides wonderfully designed eating area while most of the others just give plain under-decorated plastic chairs and alumunium tables. You can see and feel the difference from the very step you enter in.
Hong Tang
Working at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) for the past (almost) four years, I feel the urge to mind what people say about foodism at PIK. One of the names I often hear is Hong Tang.
According to some people, Hong Tang is a dessert shop from Taiwan. Other brands will be Black Ball, Honeymoon Dessert, Honey Bean and some more names that I cannot understand. And among them, Hong Tang is said to be the best.
So me and my friend went there last Tuesday. It took only 10min drive from our school to this shop. It was quiet but people kept coming in when we left around 12 am. I asked the waiter to point out their specialty. So, the best sellers are Grass Jelly 29, (something) 41 and Hong Tang 80.
We ordered Grass Jelly 29, just with different ice cream flavour. So here is mine with Matcha (green tea) ice cream. It was great. I love it. But maybe next time, I’ll try not to be health-freak and order different ice cream flavour.
Sumoboo!
If you fancy hot food, noodle and cold dessert. I know a right place for you. SUMOBOO!
Sumoboo, located at the Ruko Crown Golf Mediterania, Jl. Marina Indah Golf, Pantai Indah Kapuk. phone: 021-96628677, is famous for its Nutella Bomb dessert. In fact they have a range of cold dessert with wonderful and appealing look that would make you want to try all.
Back To The Past
I have a meeting tomorrow at an office lot across to one of Jakarta malls, Mal Daan Mogot. Surprisingly, or not, I don’t know where it is. So, I ask Google Map, as always, trying to get lucky to get the picture how on earth I can be there from my super remote work place.
I typed the name of the mall in English and in Bahasa Indonesia. Nothing came up. #relieved I am not the only one who’s lost here. Hello? Then I typed the address. Not as precise as I hope, duh? of course!, but I managed to understand.
So next, I typed my workplace address because I’ll be going from there. Bina Bangsa School PIK. Nothing came up. I typed the address. Nothing came up. ugh. So I zoomed in and in and in and finally, I found it… or not.
Dessert Company
It was a hard working day at the school I am teaching. We seriously needed a break. So, my friend and I decided to run away for a short afternoon snacks. And we chose Dessert Company.
