Sari Mendo
One of the best food that I tried when I visited Tegal was a lamb satay at Sari Mendo restaurant. At first, I thought it would just be like any other satay that I’ve tried before, but actually it was not. This one tasted very soft and tender with a small chunk of lamb fat between the meat that made the taste even more delicious. Especially when you mixed it with its codiment. It will be perfect for diner with family! Located at Jalan Teuku Umar Debong Tengah-Tirus, it was no more than 15 minutes away from our hotel. There were rows of tables that will ensure you to get a place there. We also ordered a clear lamb soup to help killing the freezing air and warm our tummy. I love it. My brother prefer coconut milk lamb soup. Maybe you want to try that one also. Which ever, do try to visit this place.
Seriously, Do not miss it!
Hotel Karlita International, Tegal
We stayed at a three star hotel, Karlita International when we visited Tegal. Some say that this was the best hotel in this town. Well, Tegal was actually just a small town where people stopped by just to get a break from a long journey to a destination city. So, we kinda feel that we must not risk our break by staying not in the best hotel in town. Apparently they just added a new wing building that slightly confused us. But the lobby was spacious and well decorated. I love seeing a snowman here, on the land where snow does not exist.
Tahu Aci Tegal
It was a cloudy day. And we were ready for a little adventure in Tegal. We were planning to visit the nearby seashore. My sister in law suggested us to buy some famous local snacks before we went to the beach. So, we decided to follow some suggestion from internet, Tahu Aci “Murni Putra” at Jalan Diponegoro, Tegal. They served a small type called Tahu Aci and a bigger one called Tahu Pletok. They were actually a tofu with some corn flour as its topping. Add some more seasoning and deep fried them, and they were ready be served. Usually they would serve it with some green chili. The taste was actually so-so. However, I could feel and smell the oil from the deep frying process. It was definately not a healthy snack. But I think, if you eat this with some chili sauce or you eat this with bakso soup, it would taste more delicious. Well, no harm in trying a bite. 🙂
Nasi Bogana RM Ny. Pan
I finally decided to go with my brother’s family on a road trip to Semarang this holiday season. It was a last minute decision that I did not prepare much for this trip. Neverthelesss, I savvy enough to find out some famous cuisine that worthed to try, one of them was Nasi Bogana Ny. Pan, Bogana Rice from Mrs. Pan’s Kitchen.
